The primary reason is the horrific injustice of the climate emergency, by which our generation is passing on a world which will be dominated by famine, natural disasters, and subsequent wars and immense refugee flows, and large scale extinction of species including possibly our own.

This betrayal of our basic role - to care for our young,  shows in our failure to vote for their interests, so that even a responsible government like the current one is failing to take anywhere near enough action to end fossil fuel mining, export, and use.

There are 400,000 Australians aged 16 or 17.  We believe that this generation, if enfranchised, might tip the balance.
